Understanding What Intensive Therapy Is—and What It Is Not
Intensive therapy is a unique and transformative approach. It’s an opportunity to fully dedicate time to your relationship under an expertise tailored to your unique needs. Think of it like a private retreat between you, and your partner under my guidance as a professionally Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist (EFT). EFT is scientifically proven to be the most effective non-pathological approach base on bonding science and its understanding of relationships.
From this therapeutic lens, I avoid surface-level techniques like problem-solving, date nights, or “I statements strategy”. Instead, we will go deeper, uncovering the emotional experiences that fuel negative patterns and create distress. The process is experiential, helping you access the underlying emotions behind the conflict. Bonding science proves that much of what we do in relationships stems from attachment fear and longings. This doesn’t excuse harmful behaviors but provides clarity on why they occur.
When facilitating therapy, I follow emotions because they are the language of love, offering a direct path to understanding and healing. They allow us to bypass defenses and get to the heart of what’s truly happening between you and your partner.
What an intensive is Not, however, is a discernment process to weigh the viability of the bond. If you feel that assessing your dedication to the relationship is where you are currently, I would gently recommend meeting over my weekly-hourly therapeutic sessions to better support both of you during this period of uncertainty.
What to expect
With this focused approach condensed over three days, you can expect the equivalent of more than 3 months of weekly sessions in terms of dept, focus, and impact. This accelerated approach allows us to dive straight into the core issues without the usual breaks between sessions.
Day one would involve creating a safe space, establishing trust, and gaining a deep understanding of your emotional patterns, pain points, and relationship dynamics. We’ll explore the root causes of what’s been holding you back or creating disconnection.
Day two, we’ll focus on breaking through those barriers. This might mean working through difficult emotions, healing past wounds, or developing healthier communication patterns. The intensive format allows us to stay in the process longer, ensuring we can move past surface-level insights and reach true breakthroughs.
Day three, we’ll begin to integrate what you’ve learned, practicing new ways of connecting and nurturing your relationship. We’ll focus on sustainable tools that you can take into your daily life which will open doors towards lasting effects.
By the end, you’ll likely feel a stronger connection to your partner, a clearer understanding of each other’s needs, and a renew sense of love and commitment—all of this in a concentrated timeframe that would normally be achieved over the course of months. The intensive serves as catalyst, releasing old patterns, and unlocking new potential, creating a foundation that can weather life’s challenges. During the intensive, we’ll not only focus on transformation but also discuss the potential for any further care needed to integrate your progress into your everyday life.
“The beauty of love isn’t static; it’s a dynamic journey of embracing vulnerability, dancing with imperfection and evolving together. “
